well, now in addition to debating the meaning of "historical," we can  
discuss what constitutes "spiritual" and "healing." ;-)

I mean, I'd consider Nico singing "Sunday Morning" fairly spiritual!  
And Ella Fitzgerald. And Nina Simone, Grace Slick, Marta Sebestyen,  
Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Yoko Ono..... but then I think ALL music is  
spiritual. And I'm an atheist!

In any case,  the list would for me have to include Sister Rosetta  
Tharpe, the Staples and the music of Hildegard von Bingen (as  
performed by Sequentia, or maybe Sinfonye).
