[FA Worldmusic] Fwd: Your question about Historical Women in WorldMusic

At the same time, there is an "objectivity of taste" that transcends personal
opinions and national borders and cultures -- an international well-spring for
humanity that renews itself through continuous dialogue about and appreciation
of the highest achievements in music, literature, and the visual arts
throughout the world.

Yes, of course. Much of it is highly subjective, which is what makes these
kind of discussions fun and, at times, lively....

So then as the list gets longer and longer, the question becomes:

Which ones would you put at the top of the list based on historical

      importance?

The original question was not about which women are the best, or even

most significant in their countries/cultures/genres, but presumably

"historically important" in a way that far transcends those settings.

The topic is not closed, and thanks for your input. I'm still

collecting and will send the final list to everybody....
