Greetings,

World Music Central has created a world music wiki. It is not visible to
the public yet, but we are making an invitation to the members of this
list only to add news perspectives.

If you are familiar with Wikipedia, our wiki is very similar. Why did we
decide to create a separate wiki? The main reason is that we want a
specialized world music wiki, with more in depth information.

What is different our wiki? First, it is by invitation only. It is not
open for everyone to edit. This eliminates inaccuracies and the drive-by
vandalism that Wikipedia has suffered many times. Thus, the information
will be more reliable.

Also, we will publish a credits area where the names of the people
involved in the wiki will be listed. That means that readers will be
able to see who is behind the wiki.

If you are interested in participating, send me a private email and we
will get you started. If you are not registered on our site, you will
need to register. Login in is the only way to you will be able to edit.

Once the wiki is more developed, we will invite other editors such as
musicians, ethnomusicologists, etc.

To give you a picture of what is already there, go to
http://worldmusiccentral.org/ewiki/?id=World+Music. This is what I
consider the best starting point. You will be able to navigate to
different sections. The World Music Directory at the bottom has some
areas that are very developed and others that we are still working on.

Thank you,

Angel Romero
