[FA Worldmusic] politics and language; (redux in different context)

"Should!?!" I did not say "should" anything.
Why pick up the album or go to the concert? What snippet is going to resonate
with word of mouth. That's what I am talking about... creating multiple
entry-points for newcomers to even care in an information-oversaturated world.
Which of the following things influence you:
* a finished, nice looking CD
* good photos (or even sexy photos?)
* liner notes (bad ones, good ones, no ones)
* lyric translation/song title translation
* knowing where an artist stands culturally, musically, politically
* seeing an artist live
?
Much respect,
===> Dmitri!

I don't disagree, so to speak... but in the end, I don't think the artist, the
publicist or even the critic ought to be telling the listeners how they
"should" get the music... that's a personal thing. If I don't want to do the
work to learn the language and nuance of the lyrics, if I don't want to have
to study before I'm "allowed" to experience music, should I be told my
enjoyment is not acceptable?
