well.... is it even possible for any one report to present all sides  
of the story? there aren't just two sides, for one thing... and every  
report/reporter has a point of view. all the information is out there  
from a variety of sources, all with varying points of view, for us to  
assess and then make up our own minds.

and as far as the market deciding, fine. let's undo all media  
regulation and if it means one company ultimately owns all the major  
TV stations, radio stations and newspapers in one market or even the  
whole country, then no problem.

would you also do away with public broadcasting? with all content  
regulations?

the thing is, TV and radio airwaves and even cable and some satellite  
facilities belong the the public and the broadcasters are given  
(leased) the use of them. We the people, with the government as our  
agent, have a right to set some gules and guidelines beyond simply  
saying that whatever is most profitable must be okay....
