Subject: Arts Presenters & Agents: Consider Signing Ltr to Bush Admin re. US-Cuba cultural relations
Hi friends -
Pardon the shotgun nature of this message... please feel free to forward to appropriate friends/colleagues.
Please view and consider signing a letter addressed to the Bush Administration requesting a re-opening of cultural relations with Cuba, which have been shut off by our government since 2003, and for steps towards the normalization of relations between our two countries. The letter and impressive list of initial signatures is located at http://www.cubaresearch.info/cubaletter <http://www.cubaresearch.info/cubaletter> , including a form that you can use to sign the letter easily.
The letter, developed by members of the US-Cuba Cultural Exchange network, is meant for US citizens who are in the broader realm of culture and scholarly work to sign. This means musicians, visual and fine artists, performing artists, arts presenters (performing, visual, fine), agents, recording and film industry, as well as scholars (including scientific community), authors, poets, cultural workers in general. Also those whose professions involve work to broaden and enhance relations, especially cultural relations, between the US and Cuba.
The letter is in part a response to a call from Alicia Alonso, Director of the National Ballet of Cuba, to US artists and intellectuals. Alonso's letter is also visible at the site.
This letter will be made public, including to the media, early in the coming week.
Thanks,
Louis Head
