Subject: Taipei's A MOVING SOUND makes Rubin Museum of Art debut
Hi Dmitri,
Any chance we could get a listing of A MOVING SOUND, the world music group
from Taipei, Taiwan on Wednesday evening, July 18 at 7 p.m. on your
list-serve? This is the first time they will be performing in the all-acoustic
environment of the Rubin Museum of Art's cherrywood-lined performance space.
The songs are performed on Chinese instruments such as the vertically held and
bowed erhu and the Chinese guitar zhong ruan, as well as Western instruments.
Vocals and dances are by Mia Hsieh. Sound files are available on
www.amovingsound.com.
Further down the world music pipeline here: oud virtuoso SIMON SHAHEEN
(October 16) and the Armenian group ZULAL (December 14). And then jazz is
mixed in with Michelle Shocked (July 13), Ellis, Paul (July 27), Richard
Shindell (August 3), Lucy Kaplansky (August 17), Jonatha Brooke (November 16),
Issa (October 10), Rosanne Cash (November 30), Grachan Moncur III (September
14), and Doc Cheatham's grandson Theo Croker making his debut August 10.
Hope all is well with you,
Tim
