Re: 2007 Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) Conference
Dear Friends,
Hello, my name is Jin Y. Woo, Director of the Korean Cultural Service New
York, a foreign government office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of
the Republic of Korea.
At the 2007 APAP Conference, you will have dozens of showcases to choose from
and that selection is always a bit daunting. With that said, the Korean
Ministry of Culture & Tourism will be presenting three major American
Premieres; all of them also open to the public. The artists are
extraordinarily compelling, reaching out to audiences that see no boundaries.
The screening process was very vigorous and as a result three prominent
ensembles, acclaimed throughout Europe and Asia, will be making their American
debuts: in music, Korean Creative Music Society and Gong Myoung at the
Florence Gould Hall at French Institute Alliance Francaise (Jan. 18-19 at 8pm;
55 East 59th Street); and in dance, Dance Theatre ON at the Michael Schimmel
Center at Pace University (Jan. 20-21 at 3pm; 3 Spruce Street). There will be
a complimentary shuttle bus between Hilton Hotel (leaving at 2 & 2:30pm at the
corner of 53rd Street & 6th Avenue) and Michael Schimmel Center.
The featured performances are by: Korean Creative Music Society, a
multi-disciplinary ensemble combining traditional music, dance, and tea
ceremonies; Gong Myoung, a fusion music group innovating upon Korean and other
world music traditions; and Dance Theatre ON, a dance company of high
international recognition rooted in classical ballet, contemporary dance, and
Zen principles.
RSVP is recommended for our performances at 212-759-9550 or
info at koreanculture.org. For further information on three companies,
please visit us at Rhinelander Gallery, Booth #317.
I look forward to greeting you at three remarkable events -- each with their
own vigor, imagination, and artistry.
Sincerely,
Jin Y. Woo
Director
Korean Cultural Service New York
