*The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble offers three options for a possible concert:***
*1.*
*The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble:*
The four members of the Ethnic Ensemble come from different cultural and
ethnic backgrounds and truly reflect the varied musical styles of Israel.
The music performed by the ensemble relies mostly on Eastern European,
Balkan and Gypsy traditions. Naturally, it combines materials from the
countries of origin of the four musicians; the Sephardic traditional,
Mediterranean influences, the music of Yemenite Jews and some original music
as well.
Israeli culture is the product of an immigrant society and brings together
Balkan music alongside the sounds of Morocco, traditional Russian music side
by side with Arabic and Middle Eastern traditional music and so on. The
Ensemble's unique performances express the cultural atmosphere of the music
in Israel.
After all, where else is it possible to listen to an old Yemenite song
accompanied by an accordion?
The ensemble was established in 2004, by individuals who are active, leading
figures at the heart of the Israeli music industry. They display their
ability to perform in a variety of musical styles and demonstrate a virtuoso
control of their instruments.

*The Ethnic Ensemble with special guests: Gila Beshari and Gershon
Weisserfirer on oud & tuba*
Mix the influences of an Eastern wind from Middle East with a twist of some
Yemenite material and the result is a magical journey amongst western and
eastern cultures. The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble presents a unique
combination of Balkan and Gypsy music along with the Spanish exile tradition
and some Yemenites odes. holy and secular songs, folk and traditional songs
as well as original pieces, all carrying an exotic aroma added to music
rooted in our region, the Middle East.
Gila Bashari, an expert of ethnic Yemenite singing, is a female singer
gifted with a great warm voice. Gershon Weisserfirer, an oud and tuba
player born in Tajikistan, presents via the oud and the tuba a fascinating
combination between the tones/sounds of the eastern-Arabic and the
Western/European classics.

*A journey to the Balkans and the Mediterranean:*
*A multicultural international dialogue***
* *
Two members of the Israeli ethnic ensemble, Talya G.A Solan and Gilad
Ephrat, join the pianist Stefano Maurizi from Florence and the percussionist
Paolo Cimmino from Naples.
The International quartet performs original and traditional material from
the Mediterranean region, the Balkans, Bulgaria, Israel and Italy.
The artists' country of origins, their style and their musical influences
are expressed in a multicolored, rich and graceful dialogue.
The premiere of the international ensemble took place on December 2006 at
the Goldoni Theater in Florence.
The connection between the classic and the commoner, Eastern/Western,
innovation
and tradition produces a unique, fascinating and original sound, organic and
natural as if the four artists have known each other from days of old.
The members of the ensemble are working on a record that will be their first
album in which they will also host additional artists from Italy and Israel.
