Hey NY-ers,
I've mentioned this organization before...wanted to pass along info for
NYC musicians about a survey / project relating to rehearsal space
needs. Please free free to circulate to musicians working (and
struggling to find affordable rehearsal spaces) in NYC.
All the best
Bill

Subject: "Where Can We Work?" Musicians' Survey
Dear Bill,
You may remember that in May 2006 our Program Director David
Johnston and I met with you about Joe's Pub and workspace issues. You
talked about the volume of inquiries you get from performers and of
potential expansions. You weren't able to attend our November 15 focus
group - a preliminary to the big survey. The focus group underscored
what you told us - the need for rehearsal space as well as for
performing opportunities.
For the next two days we have the pre-registration open for
"Where Can We Work?", the survey of professional NYC-based musicians
that will seek to document the need. I know you are busy, but I hope
you can forward it to likely musicians. Here's the information:
Musicians: Be Heard! "Where Can We Work?", funded by the New
York State Music Fund, is a major online survey sponsored by NYC
Performing Arts Spaces. It is your chance to say how workspace issues
affect your ability to rehearse, perform, teach and compose in New York
City. You are the stakeholders: To take the survey, you need to
pre-register by February 14: Link to
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=175573030839, and please pass this
notice along to your fellow musicians. The survey will be emailed in
early March.
The survey will be open all March, but only to those who have
pre-registered. After that, as we sift through data, we'd welcome an
opportunity to go over it with you in a small group.
Comments and questions welcome now.
best,
Eugenie
