Critically acclaimed Afropolitan fusion band, Soulfhge, just signed to Left
Turn Music
NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES -- Critically acclaimed Afropolitan fusion band,
Soulfhge, has signed a record deal with Left Turn Music, a new label
founded
by long-time, multi-platinum producer/engineer & executive Elliot Mazer,
Brian Cullinan, a 16-year veteran and former Digital VP of Columbia Records
and the HiFive Group, inc. (launched by former Universal/Verve execs Jon
Vanhala, Tony Pellegrino, Michael Kauffman and former Tower Records EVP
Kevin Cassidy).
Fusing a unique blend of Hip Hop, Reggae, & West African Highlife, Soulfhge
has electrified and inspired audiences since their inception in 2003, with
driving rhythms, tight harmonies, powerful lyrics and authentic
musicianship. Independently, the Harvard-educated trio has garnered much
success through their distinctive sound and positive message, with
recognition across the globe in such major media as MTV Africa, NPR, the
Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, MNet Africa, ABC Chronicle and BBC
Worldservice, reaching 146 million listeners worldwide. Proving that
positive can still be powerful, the video for "Sweet Remix," the lead
single
from their self-released title "Heavy Structured (Plus)," aired in more
than
50 countries across Africa, the Caribbean & Europe, topping charts on both
sides of the Atlantic.
Now with a recent 2nd nomination for a Boston Music Award, as well as
nominations for an Independent Music Award, a Boston Urban Music Award, and
a finalist slot in the 2005 John Lennon Songwriting contest, Soulfhge has
left its mark on the Boston and Indie music communities. In September 2007
the band officially relocated to Los Angeles, where they signed a
management
deal with multi-platinum pop legend Dave Stewart and his new venture
"Weapons of Mass Entertainment."
Backed by a team of experienced and visionary industry leaders at both Left
Turn Music and Weapons of Mass Entertainment, and armed with a distinctive
groove and a message that has spawned a growing global movement,
Soulfhge is
poised to redefine the sound and image of urban music in the 21st century.
