[FA Worldmusic] terminology

I think there are two topics floating underneath here....

Dmitri's original one about strategies to bridge audiences..

And Ian's....what are people listening to, who have you seen recently and are excited about? (or the corollary...which emperor has no clothes.....)

Anyone?

All the best,
Bill Bragin

Not that I want to extend this particular discussion, but I think the
veterans on the list should also respect the fact that a lot of the folks
piping up this time around were not on the list for previous annual "what is
world music" "'world music' sucks" discussions. In other words, there is a
revolving door and, if anything, it may be a sign that we have newcomers
among us... and that's a good thing. Also, ain't it good that FA World is
back in use as a discussion forum rather than just the occasional canned
message?

So, fed up veterans... propose another topic?

Much respect,

===> Dmitri!
