Hi gang, I have not read all of these emails coming in as I am way too
busy with about eight bands either on tour or about to depart, and with Western
Arts Alliance conference just around the corner.....but here is one agents
comment.
I have Baka Beyond on my mostly Celtic line up....and I refer to them
when booking as Afro-Celtic ( they do use a fiddle and some Gaelic tossed into
the mix, but really get pegged as "World" music most of the time.. We have been
a fit for many "world Music" events, but also do well at Celtic Fests.

On the other hand, where I do have a problem with the "World Music"
label, is for my mostly Irish, Scottish and Celtic bands. I notice many of the
conferences we attend ask us to label them for the applications and showcases, and
only have world or folk catagories to fill out....but not one for celtic.
Often the same with awards programs, often the same with record store
classifications. Folk, to me, is an entire different thing than Celtic, as is World.

To me it's time Celtic be given a seperation from "World Music" to a
larger degree.

    Just one "Celtic" agents thoughts.

    All the best, Pat
