Join me in congratulating Ishmael Ahmed, founder of the Arab
Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS)
and founder of Detroit's annual Concert of Colors Festival,
on being appointed as the Director of Michigan's Department
of  Human Services.  This is a very well deserved accolade
and I am sure you will agree that the State of Michigan is
very lucky to have a man of Ishmael's intelligence,
experience and integrity at the helm of this important state
government position.  Congratulations to Ishmael and his family.

AACC Congratulates Ismael Ahmed

The American Arab Chamber of Commerce 
congratulates Ismael Ahmed, Executive Director of 
ACCESS, on his appointment to Director of the 
Michigan Department of Human Services. "This is truly 
a great moment for our community and no person 
exemplifies the devotion, dedication, and commitment 
to Michigan as Ish does.  He has selflessly worked for 
the underprivileged for most of his life. This is just a 
small recognition for all that he has done," said AACC 
Chairman Nasser Beydoun.  



Ahmed is leaving his post after 32 years of hard work 
and dedication as a co-founder of ACCESS.  "There is 
no better choice, than Ismael, to lead human services 
for the State of Michigan.  I commend Governor 
Granholm on selecting an Arab American for the 
position. Being recognized by the Governor, several 
times, is a great compliment to ACCESS and an 
affirmation of the organization's unfaltering success.  
Ismael has led ACCESS to be the largest Arab 
American human services organization in the USA.  I 
am confident that he will do great things for Michigan," 
said Ahmad Chebbani, Executive Board Member of 
AACC.



The AACC congratulates Hassan Jaber, Chief 
Operating Officer, who will assume the position of 
Executive Director of ACCESS.  Jaber has had long 
years of experience and has been responsible for 
developing various social and legal programs, and 
administering the organization's immigration and 
advocacy services. 



The American Arab Chamber of Commerce looks 
forward to a continued partnership with ACCESS for 
the advancement and betterment of the Arab American 
community.
