Hey y'all--

Just wanted to throw some props out for my girl Ciu, the lovely Brazilian
singer that I just came off tour with.

http://www.sixdegreesrecords.com/home.php http://www.imnworld.com/ceu

We had a string of almost all sold out dates, from Miami to World Music Cafe
in Philly, National Geographic in DC and MFA in Boston, two packed nights of
Joe's in NYC, sold out the Independent (SF), Temple Bar (LA), Triple Door
(Seattle), Dakota (MN), and HotHouse (chitown) --- oh, and thanks too to all
the venues who took a risk on her :)

A "world music" artist in some senses of the word, she gets a lot of
comparisions to her label-mates (six degrees) and brazilians sisters Bebel
and Cibelle, but she's quite funkier than the two combined. R+B, soul,
funk, DJ mixing, afrobeat, Brazilian rhythms, all make a great mix that has
seen her jump to #57 on the Billboard 200, #1 on the Billboard World charts
(finally beating those Celtic Women), # 1 on Itunes World Charts, etc etc
etc -- all of this after a Latin Grammy nomination in 2005 for her debut
album.

She has also been helped a lot by the fact that Starbucks really fell in
love with her CD and has made her the first international artist distributed
on their HEAR music label---and making her CD within arms reach of millions
of people every morning at their 5000+ US stores (and her picture all over
the place there). There seems to be quite a large audience out there who
have seen her face, heard her voice, and are ready to groove at a live
show...

Sultry, smooth, hip, and cool, audiences from the young latinos to the older
jazz crowds completely fell in love with her--she'd do good anywhere. Props
to Tracy Mann at MGLimted for great press coverage everywhere we went,
including big features in NYTimes, Reuters, CNN, Billboard, NPR, and
everywhere else in between.

Todd Walker at IMN is booking her in the US (I hear she also did great last
year in Canada) and was looking for something summertime but as well fall,
give him a buzz...and be creative with your bookings! she goes just as good
with Femi Kuti as she does with Carlinhos Brown...
