Carnegie Hall's education (the Weill Music Institute) has a great
world music education program for high school studentscalled Global
Encounters, which focuses on the musical traditions of a different
country or region each year. Areas covered so far in its 6 seasons
are the Silk Road, South Africa, Brazil, India, the Caribbean, and
Mali. The program includes a beautiful teacher's guide, poster, a
companion CD, teaching artist visits to the classroom, and a final
concert for the participating students at Carnege Hall.
