musicians and producers are riding high on reggaeton. Back in the day in
New York City in the 1960s and 70s, Puerto Rican and other
Latin-Americans created salsa, making songs that stand the test of time.

"Latin alternative" music seems to fly below the radar screen of most
world music media folks and fans. But its creative mix of local roots
with rock, funk, electronica, etc. makes for some goooood listening.
(You won't find it on Latin radio though.) Many Latin Alternative stars
now live in the U.S. so they may be playing at a club near you. Here are
