I was fortunate to grow up on a pretty steady diet of the Marx Brothers, 
Mad Magazine, Lenny Bruce, Don Rickles, the Beatles (remember the 
original cover of "Yesterday and Today" that was pulled off the 
shelves?), Richard Pryor, Mel Brooks, George Carlin, Monty Python, and 
many more who made me understand that humor can be used to insult in a 
way that - even when it is crude or just plain stupid - offends nobody 
because it offends everybody.  That's where real tolerance and a healthy 
thick-skin comes from.  To be offended by a skit with Triumph the Insult 
Comic Dog backed by a mock-Ladysmith Black Mambazo - from the context of 
an online world music forum - is just plain pathetic.  You want 
something to be really offended by?  How about no affordable health 
insurance for independent workers in the arts?  How about the gutting of 
the environment for corporate profit?  How about the invasion of Iraq to 
control it's oil?  Lighten up, please.
