[FA Worldmusic] Arts Presenters world music content

Once again I plan to compile a schedule of all things world music at the Arts
Presenters January NYC conference (www.artspresenters.org) to circulate online
in advance of the conference and somewhat on site. So please email me with
your world-music-related showcases (official or not) and
panels/roundtables/discussions/public meetings.

Note that the North American World Music Coalition is putting together a day
full of world-music-specific sessions/discussions on Friday, January 19 during
the pre-conference. This day -- combined with globalFEST (a separate, but
related showcase night being held at Webster Hall on Sunday, January 21) and
showcases that take place at SOBs, Makor, Joe's Pub, the conference hotel,
etc. -- has served like a mini-WOMEX in the past. Arts Presenters is much
broader than "world music," but the organizers have been very receptive to
integrating "world music" content into the overall event and helping us as a
community use the conference as an important meeting point. While the emphasis
is more on the presenting side than say recording/publishing, there is such a
critical mass of people attending, and touring is more and more a part of how
record labels survive and thrive, a lot of labels come to
town/attend/participate.

Once I get enough of a schedule to post, I will put it on www.DubMC.com (my
little world music trade journal).
